Health & safety

Every site has a Joint Health and Safety Committee with union and employer members. It meets every month and reviews every incident report.

If you are hurt at work

  • Get first aid or medical care first.
  • Report it to your supervisor before the end of your shift.
  • Fill in an incident report and keep a copy.
  • Tell your doctor it happened at work.
  • Call the union office if your claim is denied or delayed.

Your right to refuse unsafe work

You can refuse work you believe is unsafe. Tell your supervisor and call a steward or safety representative. You cannot be disciplined for refusing in good faith.

Workplace violence

Report every incident, including threats. The employer must investigate and share the results with the committee within 14 days.
