Ask for summer vacation (May to September) by March 1. Requests are approved by seniority by April 1.
Sick leave
You earn 1.5 days a month, up to 156 days. A medical note can be asked for only after more than three shifts in a row off, and the employer pays for it.
Bereavement leave
Five days for a spouse, child, parent, brother or sister; three days for a grandparent, grandchild or in-law; one day for an aunt, uncle, niece or nephew. Two extra days if the funeral is more than 500 km away.
Family and parental leave
Maternity leave top-up to 85% of your pay for 17 weeks, parental leave top-up for 10 weeks, and three paid family responsibility days a year.
